We have picked out a couple of our favorites for you: Foil Pack Dinners and Fire Pit Dessert Cones. Both recipes are customizable, easy, and delicious. These are great additions to your summer celebrations.

Below is an easy way to make custom foil packet dinners.

Foil Pack Dinners

What You Need

It doesn't take much to make a foil packet meal, but you still need a few tools. These include:

  • A fire pit
  • Heavy-duty foil
  • Tongs
  • Your choice of food
  • Plates, utensils, etc.

What Foods Work

There are lots of options for foods to cook in a foil packet using your fire pit.

Some great options include:

  • Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Onions
  • Peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Asparagus
  • Apples
  • Sausage
  • Chicken
  • Fish

How to Make A Foil Packet

When making your foil packet, you can pick as many ingredients as you'd like. Of course, certain food combinations work better than others. One combination we love is sausage, onion, peppers, and potatoes.

Make sure your ingredients are all cubed or chopped so they can cook evenly. (You may want to leave pieces of fish whole.) Lay down at least two layers of heavy-duty foil and add your ingredients. Season with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you desire. We recommend garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne for a little extra kick. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice can be an excellent acidic touch to many meals as well.

After preparing and seasoning your food, you can add in either a little butter (about 1 Tbsp) or a drizzle of olive oil.

Then, fold the foil packet up, long sides first. Fold the short sides in, and then you are ready to cook! If, for any reason, your foil pieces are too small, wrap more foil around your packet.

Place your foil packets on the hot coals of your fire pit but not directly on the flame, and let them cook. It is helpful to flip the packets about every 10 minutes to get an even cook. It normally takes about 30-40 minutes to cook a standard foil packet. If you do not have a fire pit, it is possible to cook your foil packet on a grill as well. When your food is done, unwrap and enjoy!

Fire Pit Dessert Cones

After eating your Foil Packet Dinner, follow it up with something sweet. We love these Fire Pit Dessert Cones!

What You Need

To make your Fire Pit Dessert Cones, you will need a few tools to make sure you can safely enjoy this delicious treat.

  • A fire pit
  • Heavy-duty foil
  • Tongs
  • Sugar or waffle cones + your fillings
  • Plates, utensils, etc.

Filling Options

There are many options for what fillings to put in your Fire Pit Dessert Cone. Here are some of our favorites. Feel free to mix and match with as many or as few as you'd like!

  • Miniature marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Mini peanut butter cups, M&M's, or your candy of choice
  • Peanuts, walnuts, or pecans
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chopped strawberries, bananas, or apples
  • Raspberries
  • Peanut butter
  • Hazelnut spread
  • Caramel bits

If you want to add extra fun to your cone, sprinkle in some sea salt or a bit of cinnamon.

How to Make a Fire Pit Dessert Cone

First, fill your ice cream cones with whatever fillings you choose. One of our favorites is mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, caramel bits, and coconut! It reminds us of a Samoa/Caramel deLite Girl Scout cookie. A touch of sea salt is a wonderful addition to this combination as well.

After you have filled your cone, wrap it tightly in your heavy-duty foil. You may want to wrap it twice to prevent any leaking.

Place your wrapped cone on your fire pit, but not right on a flame. Cook until everything is heated through and melted, about 6 to 10 minutes. You may want to flip your cone halfway through the cooking process to cook everything evenly.

Unwrap carefully and dig into your dessert cone! Some people enjoy eating the ingredients out of the cone with a spoon. You can do this, or you can eat the whole cone altogether.

This is a very fun and customizable recipe for both adults and kids alike! It is simple and easy to make. You can try many different combinations and see what you like best. If you don't have a fire pit, these cones can be made using a grill.
